Three lunchtime leadership workshops at #ANC2026 in Windhoek

Leadership -Purpose, Practice, Principles. Lead with purpose, turn vision into strategy, and govern with integrity.
Dates: 1st, 2nd & 3rd December 2026, lunchtime
Venue: University of Namibia, Hage Geingob Campus
Aim: To build participants’ ability to lead with clear purpose, turn vision into strategy and action, and uphold the principles of good governance in their organisations.

Format and content: The series has three interactive sessions, each building on the one before.

  • Session 1, Purpose and the Leader, explores why we lead and who we must be in order to lead. It introduces a Purpose Tension Model, which helps leaders hold competing demands rather than try to eliminate them: mission vs sustainability, values vs efficiency, and idealism vs pragmatism. It presents leadership as a process of influence grounded in character, ethical courage, self-control and servant leadership.
  • Session 2, Vision, Strategy and the Functions of Leadership, moves from who leaders are to what leaders do. It covers how to build a compelling vision, how objectives, strategies and tactics fit together, and Adair’s model of balancing task, team and individual needs. It also covers team building, and the difference between delegating work and empowering people. Participants draft a personal strategic goal using a SWOT analysis and SMART objectives.
  • Session 3, Good Governance: Leadership at Board Level, looks at how boards turn purpose and leadership into accountable organisations. It works through six principles: organizational purpose, strategic leadership, ethical behaviour, decision-making and control, transparency, and board discipline. It then turns to practice, including regular review of purpose, planning for sustainability, and building the board as a team.

Speaker: Mark Hollingsworth MBA FIoLM, CEO of The Nutrition Society.
